On 24th December 2024, an online training session was held for the selected grantees of the call for Action Grants for Local Initiatives. During the event, representatives from 28 organisations were trained. Over the next nine months, these organisations will implement action grants for local initiatives in six different areas: Enabling environment for civil society development; Good governance, rule of law, and combating corruption; Local economic development, social economy, and social inclusion; Green agenda: climate change, environment, and clean energy; Gender equality and youth; Health, healthcare, and health culture.
The grantees, through their local initiatives, will address various local challenges faced by their target groups, such as: Increasing transparency and accountability of local authorities; Strengthening local youth councils and establishing youth parliaments; Enhancing the participation of women and youth in local decision-making processes; Increasing the social and economic inclusion of youth and women from diverse ethnic communities; Improving the social inclusion of the elderly; Strengthening the resilience of local communities to climate change and addressing environmental issues; Combating corruption; Improving opportunities for quality palliative care at home; and addressing other challenges. Regarding the regional coverage of the awarded grants, two grants will be implemented in the Skopje region, two in the Southwestern region, one in the Southeastern region, two in the Northeastern region, two in the Eastern region, one grant in the Pelagonia region and Polog region, one in the Polog region and Southwestern region, one in the Northeastern region and Eastern region, and one in the Pelagonia region and Southwestern region.
During the training, the grantees were introduced to the key rules and procedures for implementing projects funded by the European Union, such as: Financial operations and required supporting documents for financial reporting; procurement of goods and services for the project; reporting and monitoring processes; communication and visibility requirements.
The Action grants for local initiatives are part of the project „EU Support to the Civil Society Resource Centre – phase II“ funded by the European Union and implemented by the National Civil Society Development Foundtion, Civic Resource Centre, Macedonian Centre for International Cooperation, Media plus Shtip and Association for Democratic Initiatives – ADI, Gostivar.
