The Resource Centre in Stip hosted for the second time an interactive meeting with the pupils from the local primary schools. The workshop “Volunteering – an opportunity to contribute to my environment” was attended by 20 pupils from the primary schools “Goce Delcev”, “Vanco Prke” and “Slavejko Arsov”, who are also representatives of the Pupils Parliaments of 8th and 9th grade.
The participants learned the characteristics of volunteering, brainstormed about how volunteering can contribute to their environment, and were encouraged to become volunteers. This meeting was also a great basis for further cooperation and socialising among the three schools.
Through group work, they had the opportunity to exchange experiences with their peers from other schools, discuss ideas together and plan how to achieve them. Groups working on designing volunteering actions presented their ideas that included environmental action to clean the city centre; humanitarian action to collect and distribute food, water and clothing to socially disadvantaged families; as well as organising a humanitarian fundraising concert and donating the money to the high school for children with disabilities “Iskra”.
This workshop is in some way a continuation to the December events “Citizen Activism and Volunteering for Environment Protection”, which included pupils from all central primary schools in Stip and Karbinci.
