A Need to Strengthen the Civil Society in Centar Zhupa

On 10th June 2024, a visit of the Mobile Resource Centre was held in the municipality of Centar Zhupa. At the meeting, the present representatives of local civic society organisations, young activists, representatives of the local self-government and other activists got acquainted with the functioning of the Civic Resource Centre and the local resource centres, the services and other opportunities it offers, as well as the current activities.

The president of the local branch of “Radika-DE” emphasized that they, as a branch, are not informed about funding opportunities for civil society organisations and this information is welcome. She was also interested in the trainings offered by the Civic Resource Centre, all with the objective for their organisation to become more sustainable and independent in their work. The attendees expressed a great need to strengthen local organisations and civic activists in this municipality.

The meeting was also attended by Mr. Arijan Ibraim, the mayor of Centar Zupa Municipality. He pointed out that as a municipality they face a big problem of migration of young people abroad and that when they return they are not interested in contributing anything more to the community. In addition, the municipality faces financial and infrastructure problems. However, Mr. Ibraim emphasized that as a municipality they are open to cooperation, support civil society organisations and would support their new initiatives that would contribute to the community.

The visit of the Mobile Resource Center was organised within the project “EU Support to the Civil Society Resource Center – Phase 2”, funded by the European Union, and implemented by the National Civil Society Development Foundation Civic Resource Centre, the Macedonian Centre for International Cooperation (MCIC), Media Plus, Shtip and Association for Democratic Initiatives – ADI, Gostivar.
