The Children are also for a Cleaner Environment

16 Sep 2025

On 13th September 2025, the final event of the project "The Children for a Cleaner Environment" was held in the City Park in Vinica, under the motto "Games without Borders 2025". The event was a true celebration of children's creativity, energy and environmental awareness.

Through fun eco-games, drawing, creative activities and interaction, students who were part of the previous activities of the project shared their messages for nature protection and presented what they had learned. More than 200 children and their parents from Kochani and Vinica actively participated in the event, creating an atmosphere of joy, togetherness and collective responsibility for the environment.

The project "The Children for a Cleaner Environment" was implemented in the past nine months by the associations "Eco Team East" from Kochani and "Detelina" from Vinica. Their goal was to encourage young people, schools, and citizens to get involved in caring for a cleaner and healthier environment through educational, practical, and fun activities.

Namely, through this project the following activities and results were achieved:

  • four workshops with over 300 participants – students from four primary schools from Kochani and Vinica;
  • Teaching in nature in Ponikva with 50 students and their teachers – mentors;
  • Competition for the best eco-project among schools;
  • Schools actively select and collect waste – paper and plastic. So far, over 500kg of waste has been collected;
  • Implemented a continuous campaign to raise public awareness through Facebook and Instagram.
  • Implemented two social challenges – “Plant a tree” and “30 days without plastic” in which citizens of all age groups from Vinica and Kochani participated.

With these activities, the project contributed not only to raising awareness among children and young people, but also to a broader mobilization of the local community, proving that small steps can bring big changes.

"The Children for a Cleaner Environment" is a project implemented by the Association for Ecology and Environmental Protection EKO TIM ISTOK from Kocani in partnership with the Association for Unique Stories Detelina Vinica. This project is a sub-grant received within the "EU Support to the Civil Society Resource Centre - Phase 2" funded by the European Union.
