Veles CSOs ask for greater cooperation with the municipality

22 Jan 2019

The financing by the Municipality of Veles and its cooperation with the civil society was the main topic during the meeting of the Mobile Resource Centre with CSOs, which was organised in cooperation with the Foundation Focus on October 24, 2018. The organisations agreed that the Municipality should find an appropriate mechanism for involving CSOs in their work as partners, so that they can jointly act for the benefit of the citizens.

“It is particularly important that the civil society regains the confidence of the municipalities with already built capacity, experience and achieved results and jointly upgrade the cooperation by creating new services in order to increase the quality of life of the citizens in the local communities” said Dimce Velev from the Association of people with diabetes “Sugar-Lollipop”. He added that it is necessary to have serious criteria for cooperation and outsourcing services to CSOs, and CSOs should be committed, transparent and accountable in the work.

At the meeting, the participants emphasized their priorities such as: the need for capacity building for preparation of project applications, social entrepreneurship, as well as timely informing about the current events, activities and opportunities for financing the organisations.

The Civil Society Resource Centre team, in addition to the presentation of the project activities, informed the organisations about the competencies, the composition and the operation of the Council for cooperation with and development of the civil society, as well as the priorities and activities planned under the new Strategy for cooperation with and development of the civic society 2018-2020.

The Civil Society Resource Centre is an EU-funded project, implemented by Macedonian Center for International Cooperation in partnership with Association for Democratic Initiatives (ADI), Gostivar and Media Plus, Shtip.
